One big advantage of using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is that you can create a really nice structure for your documents to organize them and make them easy to find. The tool used for this is called “bookmark editor” and, just as it sounds like, you create bookmarks which you can add to files, both CAD data and associated documents.
What’s even better is that you can create structures of your bookmarks. In other words: you can create a main bookmark for a new project and divide it into subchapters, e.g. “CAD Files”, “Rendered Images”, “Requirements” and so on to further structure your data.
Step by step
To create a new bookmark, expand the application pane by clicking on the compass at the upper right corner and drag-n-drop the Bookmark Editor into your dashboard. Note that in this case, I’ve created a new tab in my dashboard for the bookmark application.
Then click the “new bookmark” icon in the toolbar at the bottom. Be aware that if you can’t see the toolbar you will have to expand it by clicking a small arrow at the bottom of the screen.
Once the bookmark is created it will appear in the list of bookmarks at the very left section of the application. If I click once on the newly created bookmark to select it and then again click the “new bookmark” icon in the toolbar, a sub-category will be created.
I can repeat the process to create yet another sub-category for the main bookmark “Universal Joint Project”.
The result is that I’ve created one main bookmark with two sub-categories for CAD-files and rendered images. This makes it much easier for both myself and my colleagues to find the different types pf documents.
