After educators create curricula, enroll students, and assign coursework, the next step is to help students get started on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Understanding how to access assigned roles, find applications, and track coursework ensures students can begin learning quickly and confidently.
Let’s walk through the student experience after being enrolled in a CAD or engineering course using the Teacher Experience role.
Receiving Your Class Enrollment and Role Assignment
When a student is added to a class, they receive an email notification confirming that a new role has been assigned to them.
This email serves as an introduction to the role they have been granted and provides confirmation that they have been enrolled in a course. Once the role has been assigned, students can log in to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and begin accessing their learning environment.
Check Notifications for Class Information
After logging in, students can view their notifications to see important enrollment details.
These notifications show:
- Who enrolled them in the class
- Which class they have been added to
- Information about their assigned role
This provides students with a clear overview of their course access and learning environment from the moment they sign in.
Access CAD and Engineering Applications
Students who receive the 3D Designer for Education role gain access to browser-based design tools available through the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
These tools include applications such as:
- xDesign
- xShape
- Other browser-based xApps
Depending on the course setup, students may also receive additional roles, including 3DSwym and Collaborative Industry Innovator, which provide access to a broader range of applications and collaboration capabilities.
Find Applications by Role
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform allows students to view applications based on the role they have selected.
By choosing a specific role, such as 3D Designer for Education, the platform filters the available applications to display only those included within that role. This makes it easier for students to understand which tools are available to them and quickly launch the applications they need.
Starting an application is as simple as clicking the app icon within the Compass interface.
Keep Track of Coursework and Progress
Managing assignments and coursework is straightforward with Collaborative Tasks.
Students can access the Collaborative Tasks area from the platform’s navigation ribbon and view their coursework organized into categories such as:
- To Do
- In Work
- Completed
These task statuses provide a clear overview of assignment progress and help students stay organized throughout their CAD and engineering studies.
Getting Started as a Student on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform gives students a central location to access design applications, track assignments, and collaborate throughout their course. By understanding how to access assigned roles, launch applications, and monitor task progress, students can focus on developing valuable CAD and engineering skills rather than navigating technology.
Whether you’re using browser-based design tools like xDesign and xShape or managing coursework through Collaborative Tasks, the platform provides everything needed to support a connected learning experience.
