It can be challenging navigating complex projects in a digital environment, keeping the overview of collaborators, tasks, and deadlines. Who’s doing what and when? We need all the help we can get, and it makes sense to have the digital environment work for us in managing our projects – not against us. It is really a matter of choosing the right tools and today we’ll have a look at how our cloud-based platform, 3DEXPERIENCE, can help you out.  

On the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, you can manage your projects smarter using tools offered by the Project Planner role. 

How would you like to be able to create, manage and automate notifications between tasks? 

Project Planner tools enables you to do so. Everyone within your team working with the project gets notifications on when they need to perform on specific tasks in order to keep up with the timeline set for the project. They’re literally saved by the bell – the risk of missing deadlines is minimized as they can’t be forgotten or overlooked. The Project Planner keeps track of it for you. 

You can also attach the files needed for each task to make it easier for your team to locate what they need and to start working with the correct files. 

But that is not all, Project Planner is a complete solution for all your project management needs.

• Create a project plan that is easy to set up and easy for your team to understand 

• Update changes quickly between all collaborators 

• Optimize schedule automatically based on user updates and changes 

• Access all tasks and attached files directly in SOLIDWORKS connector 

 

Manage your tasks and team with Project Planner 

 

In the extensive toolbox that is 3DEXPERIENCE, the Project Planner is a role offering you two different apps: 

• Collaborative Tasks 

• Project Planning 

 

The Project Planning app offers you all the tools I’ve uncovered up until now. And then some. 

The connection between the two apps means you can navigate the 3DEXPERIENCE platform freely, seamlessly integrating the project management tools with your tasks and teamwork. This gives you an easy, user-friendly overview of all your activities on 3DEXPERIENCE. 

You can have both apps next to each other and manage your projects easier and not switch between the tabs inside the Project Planning app to see all tasks. 

Below you can see the Project Planning app to the left and Collaborative Tasks on the right side. 

 

Give your team members the right tools – and nothing more 

The Project Planner role and its tools are best suited to those who manage and create the projects and set up different tasks, milestones, and notifications to the next task when the one before it is done. 

The rest of your team will benefit more from the role Collaborative Industry Innovator which offers the Collaborate Tasks app including all the tools they need to participate in projects and engage in tasks and teamwork.

Setting up new tasks – nice and easy 

It only takes 4 simple steps to create a new task:

1. Set a title, and a description if needed 

2. Set the priority, and which state it is going to be initiated in 

3. Set start and end date as well as duration  

4. Attach files that are necessary to perform the task 

When your tasks have been created, you can then go to the Schedule tab to manage notifications. This is so the next person knows that their task is up next and can start working on it (see orange box in image below). 

Furthermore, you can also set milestones if you want (see blue box in image below).
