PLM Group appointed as Value Added Reseller of high-tech 3D printers in the Nordics and Baltics

PLM Group has been appointed as Nordic and Baltic Value Added Reseller of 3D printers from the booming US 3D printing company Markforged. With the appointment the largest SOLIDWORKS software VAR in the Nordics strengthens its position as the supplier of the most advanced 3D technology available.

Markforged is the last year’s most significant success story in professional desktop 3D printing. The company has sold its Mark Two machines to technology leaders in more than 50 countries. Users of the printers range from custom motorcycle racing companies in South Africa to machine shops in the US, from worldwide research laboratories to multibillion Euro industrial powerhouses in Germany.

HenrikLPLM Group’s Product Sales Manager Henrik Larsen, for the Nordic and Baltic regions says: “Before we signed the agreement with Markforged we have thoroughly studied and tested the printers. Markedforged printers both complement and strengthen our existing business within 3D printing significantly. The machines are of high professional quality and we are very pleased to offer them to both Nordic and Baltic companies, making them able to create better and more innovative products faster.”

The number of Markedforged retailers worldwide is the last year more than doubled to 85 and the growth of the company’s 2016 revenues were all 164 percent compared to the previous year.

“This is just the begMark_Twoinning for us. We are in the process of developing new products coming to market later this year,” says Markforged’s founder and CEO, Greg Mark.

Markforgeds 3D printers are unique because they use a special patented technology called continuous fiber filament (CFF). The technology is combined with the company’s own software which automatically creates the optimal fiber pattern inside the 3D CAD model, which ensures the maximum strength of parts. This allows for very fast printing of for example tools, fixtures and special parts which would be both significantly more expensive and very difficult or even impossible to manufacture using conventional production methods. The 3D printing thus ensures great savings both when it comes to time and costs.

The latest material from Markforged is the groundbreaking lightweight composite material Onyx, which is nylon reinforced with carbon fibers. This material has a strength and properties that are comparable to aluminum. The printers can furthermore be used to print in fiberglass, Kevlar and also a special high-strength and high temperature fiberglass material.
