The challenge
F.L. Smidth A/S is the leading supplier of equipment and services to the global cement and minerals industries employing more than 12,000 people worldwide. F.L. Smidth A/S adopted a 3D CAD strategy in 2004 to increase productivity, quicken collaboration, and secure a competitive advantage. Moving to 3D required an integrated PDM system that could manage the many references among parts, assemblies, and drawings, as well as integrate with the company’s ERP and legacy 2D document management systems.
The solution
F.L. Smidth A/S chose SOLIDWORKS Enterprise PDM software as its PDM solution because of its ease of use, direct integration with SOLIDWORKS software, and ability to connect and operate with existing ERP and legacy systems.
