The 3DEXPERIENCE platform, is an excellent tool for seamless collaboration between you and your colleagues. However, to take full advantage of its capabilities, you need to know how to save files to the platform. This guide will walk you through the steps required to save files on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform using SOLIDWORKS, ensuring that your team can access and work with your creations efficiently.
Why Save to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform?
Saving to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform allows for easy access and collaboration among team members. When your files are saved to the platform, everyone can see what you’ve created, contribute their input, and make changes as needed.

Steps to Save a File to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform
- Check File Status in the SOLIDWORKS Task Panel
Start by checking the status of your file in the SOLIDWORKS Task Panel. If your file is not yet saved to the platform, the status icon will indicate this with the message “file has not yet been saved into 3DEXPERIENCE”. - Select the Collaborative Space
At the top of the SOLIDWORKS interface, choose the collaborative space to which you want to save your file. This is especially important if your company uses multiple collaborative spaces:- SOLIDWORKS Connected Users: Select which cloud space to save to by using the top right corner of the SOLIDWORKS window.
- Desktop SOLIDWORKS Users with Add-ins: Choose your cloud space through the settings in “mySession.”
- Initiate the Save to the Platform
There are two primary ways to save your file to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform:- Key Binding Method: Press
Ctrl + Alt + Sto save your file quickly. - Context Menu Method: Right-click on the file and select “Save.”
- Key Binding Method: Press
- Choose Additional Options
When saving, you have a few additional options:- Create a New Revision: Check this box if you want to create a new revision of your file immediately.
- Change Cloud Space: If needed, you can select a different cloud space to save to during this step.
- Finalize the Save
Press “Save” to complete the process. - Verify the File Status
Once saved, check the SOLIDWORKS Task Panel again. The status icon should indicate that the version you have locally is the same as the one stored on the platform.
Start Collaborating
That’s it. Now your file is saved to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, making it available for your colleagues to view and collaborate on. This simple process ensures that everyone on your team can access the latest version of your files and contribute their expertise.
